THE GREAT AFFAIRS
"...the instant hooks and melodies of Cheap Trick, with the Americana of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers..."
-Screamer Magazine
Initially conceived by singer/songwriter Denny Smith as a vehicle for the more introspective, acoustic-based material his decidedly louder, Modern Rock-leaning band had little use for, The Great Affairs has evolved over time to be something of a musical catch-all, encompassing elements of Americana, Power Pop, & Classic Rock, and incorporating all of them into their proprietary blend.
“This is a band who know exactly who they are and where they come from…. and therein lies their greatness.” -Melanie Henderson, Wildside Music
In late 2020, they released their 5th LP ‘Everybody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt.’, co-produced with Grammy-winning Mixer/Engineer Michael Saint-Leon(Buddy Guy, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram). It featured the singles “I’m Alright”, “Worn Out Souls”, and “High On Rose”, as well as a guest appearance from Wendy Moten, first runner-up on Season 21 of NBC’s The Voice, who shares lead vocal duties with drummer Kenny Wright on the gospel-tinged “Three-Leaf Clover”. Their most ambitious, diverse release to date, the album was praised for its rugged, yet refined sonics and deft songcraft.
“‘Everybody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt’ will fall on your ears like gravy on a biscuit. Traditional style songwriting and a raw, big band sound. This album should tickle your fancy if you love the classics like the Stones, Black Crowes, Skynyrd, Cheap Trick, and all things downright dirty.”
-Bryan Blake, Vinyl Lollipops
In 2022, the band are hard at work on the followup, with new lead guitarist Corey “Rizzo” Rozzoni(Burden Bros.) now in the fold, and will be releasing a handful of singles in advance of its arrival.
“Classic American rock 'par excellence' emanates from Nashville's The Great Affairs; think hooky choruses and guitar lines, classy songwriting, top-notch arrangements and fine musicianship.”
-Simon Lambert, Ballroom Blitz
